DIY flowers (as promised)

After having, not one, but TWO bad experiences with florists, my Martha Stewart Mom and I were determined to put together bridesmaid bouquets that would satisfy our mental picture as well as our wallets.

We purchased ONE bunch of million star baby's breath for $5 at a wholesale florist (which I just saw at Vons for the same price). Then, we went to work.

We started by pulling off the branches that were low. So that we did not waste anything, we used the lower branches as part of the bouquet. We gathered the pulled off branches and brought them up to be gathered with the rest.

My mom had seen on Martha Stewart that you should place a rubber band around the gathered stems. We did that here:

(Nice cleavage, eh)

Then we wrapped the stem with gorgeous green and gold ribbon that I conveniently had on hand. We pinned it in place with pearl ended bout pins that I also conveniently had on hand.

And... the finished product!!!!!

They turned out bigger than I expected! On the big day, we will probably make them a little smaller (which means we will need fewer bunches).

So, what do you think? Should we rock these and give the bird to the florist that wanted to charge us $40 per bouquet!?

Take care until next time,
hisMrs

P.S.
Ever wonder what to do with the bouquets after the ceremony? Check out tomorrows post! ;)

I would DIY baby's breath any day of the week! It's just to cheap and easy to work with to pay someone for it!
