Our experience with registering... take 3

It was so much fun reading your guys thoughts on our registering experience.

Some of you guessed that we just went ahead and finished our registering online.

Those who guessed that are HALF right.

Basically, we decided to give the finger to Bed, Bath and Beyond COMPLETELY and we started a wedding registry with none other than...

Let me tell you... BEST experience ever. No pushy saleswomen. No walking aimlessly around a store. AND the BEST part of all... there are TONS of ratings on ALL of the products!!! That way, we know going into whether our coffee pot is gonna suck or not! Seriously, best invention ever.

Also, the prices on Amazon are already discounted and most items over $25 have FREE shipping. Now, how does BB&B even compare to THAT!?

I know there are many people that do not feel comfortable making purchases online, so we are still having our registry at Crate and Barrel for those who feel that way, but seriously... if you haven't registered yet... DEFINITELY consider Amazon.

Example of why Amazon kicks booty:
Towels are difficult to shop for online because you want to make sure that the color and texture is just to your liking. I found GREAT Tommy Bahama Towels at BB&B that were $16.99 a piece. I went onto Amazon when we got home and searched for the very specific type of towel. Not only did I find them, but they were over $5 cheaper!!!!

So, there is just a little insight for you... definitely check it out! You will LOVE it!!!

Our experience with registering... take 2

After our bad experience with registering previously, myMr and I put on a brave face and marched into Bed, Bath and Beyond to tackle registering once again...

... OH MY GODDDDDDDD...

It

Was

NO

FUN.

It started with a lady leading us to this back room where we had to fill out paperwork. No biggie. Then the lady starting going off about how about how they are going to start giving us free stuff before we even put one item on our list. What she failed to mention was the the "free stuff" was nothing more than brochures on their products. Annoying, yet still, no biggie.

Then, she said that she was going to walk with us around the store so that she could explain why we needed stuff.... wait, what?! Why we need STUFF?! We don't need STUFF. We needed bath towels, linens, and other items that were very specific. We didn't need her to walk us around the store and tell us why we NEED items that we truly don't need. Still, no biggie... or so I thought.

Let me tell you, this was the MOST awkward experience ever. First she takes us to flatware. She proceeded to tell us every detail of the flatware... then she says "Which one do you want?" Uhm... lady... we already chose our flatware when we registered at Crate and Barrel, and even if we didn't, I wouldn't want to be put on the spot to choose it with you there. She gave us the same tour and speech at the china, appliances (this was where it was the worst), stemware, linens, pots and pans, etc.

[Source]

No joke, she walked us through the ENTIRE store. She was really nice, but she just wasn't getting the hint that we wanted to do our own thing the whole time. I mean, she even felt the need to show us where the mirrors were and why we needed a mirror.

So, TWO friggin hours later, she FINALLY left us alone.

By that point, we were exhausted, only had two items on our registry (two cast iron skillets), and we wanted to leave...

... So we did...

... We left with NO towels and other linens on our list (which is why we went there in the first place)...

The lady was SUPER nice, so we just didn't have the heart to tell her to go away, but the whole time we just felt like they were trying to sell stuff to us. It wasn't the way I wanted to feel when registering.

So, we came up with our own solution to our registering troubles. Let me tell you, I could not be happier with our decision!

What did we decide you ask? Stay tuned for tomorrows post to find out...

I know, I am such a tease ;)

A note to my readers...

... If you have NOT seen the movie The Proposal...

YOU MUST CANCEL YOUR PLANS FOR TONIGHT, GET YOUR GIRLS TOGETHER, AND GO SEE IT!!!

You will NOT be disappointed!!! Sandra Bullock and (hottie) Ryan Reynolds are good, but Betty White SERIOUSLY steals the show. She is SO good in the movie!!!

Tear jerker Father/Daughter dance song

I haven't talked much about music on this blog. You are in luck... that is about to change!

I was watching the news and Steven Curtis Chapman was singing this song. It immediately made me think of father/daughter dance.

Although the meaning behind the song is very sad (and my prayers go out to the Chapman family), I think he would want his song to be used as something happy.

Here are the lyrics for you all, along with a video:

The song is called Cinderella.

She spins and she sways to whatever song plays,
Without a care in the world.
And I'm sittin' here wearin' the weight of the world on my shoulders.
It's been a long day and there's still work to do,
She's pulling at me saying "Dad I need you!
There's a ball at the castle and I've been invited and I need to practice my dancin'"
"Oh please, daddy, please!"

So I'll dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh I'll dance with Cinderella
I don't wanna miss even one song,
Cuz all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone

She says he's a nice guy and I'd be impressed
She wants to know if I approve of the dress
She says "Dad, the prom is just one week away,
And I need to practice my dancin'"
"Oh please, daddy, please!"

So I'll dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Ohh-oh ohh-oh, I'll dance with Cinderella
I don't wanna miss even one song,
Cuz all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone
She will be gone.

Well, she came home today
With a ring on her hand
Just glowin' and tellin' us all they had planned
She says "Dad, the wedding's still six months away
but I need to practice my dancin'"
"Oh please, daddy please!"

So I'll dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
'Cause I know something the prince never knew
Ohh-oh ohh-oh, I'll dance with Cinderella
I don't wanna miss even one song,
(even one song)
Cuz all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone

Are you crying yet? Cuz I am! haha

Unity Ceremony

First of all, I just want to say a big CONGRATULATIONS to Katie over at The Indecisive Bride! Her and her Mr were happily married this past weekend! I hope you two have a fabulous time on your honeymoon in ITALY!!

Second of all, myMr and I FINALLY decided on a unity ceremony!!!

Since we are outdoors, we can't really do a unity candle, and I am not the biggest fan of sand, so we tried to think of something unique.

I think we DEFINITELY did just that.

Sitting adjacent to the arch will be a table with a vase on it. Next to the vase will be two roses, one green and one white (yes, they make green roses!!!).

Then, as our families walk down the aisle, they will each make their way to the vase and place their own roses in it (green for one family and white for another). We will give this rose to each of our grandparents and parents.

So at this point, we should have somewhere near a dozen roses in the vase.
[Source]
[Source]

Then, during the ceremony, my Mr and I will place our coordinating roses into the vase as well. Then, we will tie a bow around the stems. This part symbolizes the uniting of the families. I will then use that bouquet as I walk back up the aisle!!

So, basically, my bouquet will clearly be a mix of families all determined by the color of roses, but we will all be united into one big bouquet!!! :)

What do you think?! It is definitely different, but I think it could be JUST what we have been looking for. :)

How are you going to demonstrate the uniting of families?

I just got my graduation photos back from Ziegler Photography!

Since I got them back, that means that I have pictures of my cap to share with you!!! :)

And here are some others of me not in my fugly gown!

Man... I hate pictures of myself! If any of you are looking for wedding photographers in the San Diego area, Ziegler Photography is VERY well priced. Their most expensive package is $1800 AND they are at your wedding for an unlimited amount of time!!! They will be there to take pictures of everyone getting ready as well as finishing up at the end of the night. What a steal!!!

Graduation Day...

I thought I would share some pictures from my graduation ceremony with you all. No, this is not wedding related, but it will help you get to know me a little more! :)

Here is the stage. UCSD, Sixth College, Class of 2009 babyyy...

This is me doing a happy dance because I finished school!!!!

Here is my gorgeous family...

And some of my best friends ever...

And here is me and myMr.

It was such a wonderful day. Thank goodness the weather was beautiful. Thank you so much for all of your warm wishes. It really means a lot to me!!!

P.S. I have not taken a picture of my cap yet, but what I did was cover the whole top in Martha Stewart black glitter (it was SUPER fine glitter so it did nothing but sparkle like crazy), then I lined the outside edges in swarovski hotfix rhinestones. Then I covered the center button thing in hotfix rhinestones as well. I WILL take pictures to show you all when I get a chance.

This picture is CLASSIC...

I found this picture on Tying the Knot's blog.

I could only HOPE that we could capture a moment like this on my wedding day. Look at how much admiration and awe is in that little girl's eyes.

It is SO precious.

This one is short and sweet. I hope this post finds you all doing well!!!

If you like him then you better put a ring on him...

I just HAD to get that out of my system. Gotta love Beyonce.

So, we did it. MyMr and I found HIS ring!!! It will be in in a couple of weeks! I am so excited. It is definitely not what I thought we would get him, but it is perfect!!!

We went to Jared's [enter cheesy Jared's commercial here].

I really like the look of simple bands on guys but I hate it when the edges aren't SUPER rounded. Unfortunately ALL of the white gold bands were not rounded on the edges... EVEN the comfort fit!!!

Then, I spotted it... Perfect rounded edges, fantastic grey-ish color...

[Source]

It was made out of Tungsten. I NEVER would have looked at Tungsten before, but it was just perfect. MyMr LOVED it too.

The picture above honestly does not do it justice. It is way more of a charcoal grey color. I will post pictures once I get it!!!

What kind of band did you get for your Mr?

Meet the Flowers!!!

Last but not least in my lineup of lovely ladies are my adorable flower girls.

The first flower girl is a little old to be a flower girl, but she is so small that she wouldn't fit into junior bridesmaid dresses...
... So we asked her if she would be the Flower Girl Captain. We gave her the role of being in charge of all of the flower girls. She LOVED the idea. So, meet Flower Girl Captain T.

Now, we get to the little munchkins.

This is Flower girl P. She is one sassy, strong headed, fun girl.

This is Flower girl C. She is CRAZY and absolutely adorable. She has such a fun personality for a two year old.

This is Flower girl E. Everyone says that she looks JUST like I did when I was a baby. Maybe that is why I think she looks so darn cute ;)

I love my sassy and adorable FG's. I can't wait to see what little things they do at the wedding that will make it unique. I love the idea of them being spontaneous and funny without even trying.

Are you having kids at your wedding?

Meet the Juniors!!!

I have a TON of nieces and nephews! I could not imagine having my wedding without them.

They will be sportin this dress on the big day!

Cute, no?

Well, without further ado...

This is JrBM S (on the left). She is 9 going on 20. She acts and looks so much older than she really is!

This is JrBM H (in the middle). She is one smart, athletic cookie. She always excels in EVERYTHING she does. She is a great girl!

This is JrBM T. She is CRAZY! I love it. She has such a big heart with a little devil in her! haha

This is her sister, JrBM TB. She may look small, but she is so wise for her age. She just sits back and takes everything in all the time.

These are my fantastic Juniors... Up next, my Flower Girls!!!! :) Ahhh They are just so adoroable (although I MAY be a LITTLE biased ;] )

Are you having any Juniors?

Meet the crew...

I decided that it is just about time in the wedding planning process to introduce my leading ladies to you.

Meet my amazing MOH and sister. We used to HATE each other growing up... now, she is one of my best friends!! I absolutely adore her! She is on the left and I am on the right! :)

Meet Bridesmaid J! She is also my sister. We have always had an amazing relationship even though we are 13 years apart. :)

Now meet FSIL K. She is amazing. I cannot wait to have her as my new sister. :) She just recently got married. This picture is from her wedding. Doesn't she look beautiful!

Now meet my BEAUTIFUL bridesmaid C. She is CRAZY! I LOVE that about her. She is always there for everything. This picture is from her graduation just the other week! I love how natural she looks in this pic!

Now meet bridesmaid KS! She is so FABULOUS! She always has such witty comments that just make you crack up. I have been friends with her since KINDERGARTEN!!!

The next bridesmaid is L. She has been one of my best friends for about 8 years now. She has been my partner in crime. We were inseparable for the longest time. She will always be one of my closest friends!

Next is Bridesmaid S. She is also my sister! Yes, I have lots of sisters!! :) We are 15 years apart, yet we have always been super close. I <3 her!

Last but not least is Bridesmaid T. She is my niece! We are only 4 years apart. I can't believe how old she is getting. I still think of her like she is 7 years old!

Now, you guys are gonna have to wait to see my Juniors and my Flower Girls... but they are WELL worth the wait!!!

How many bridesmaids do you have?

Registering is exhausting...

Man, I suck at titles lately...

Anyway, I don't think I ever blogged about our experience registering!!!

Choosing our first place to register was easy. MyMr and I have been obsessed with Crate and Barrel since we first started dating. We would literally go on dates to Crate and Barrel to pick out appliances for our future house.

So, a little while ago, we decided to start our registry...

2 1/2 hours later, and only a quarter of the way done registering... we were over it. It was so tiring and mentally depleting. How the heck am I supposed to know what color I want our kitchen to be when we don't even know what our kitchen is going to look like?!

Here is a picture of myMr picking out our salt and pepper shakers!! :)

Overall, it went well. We chose some great items, but I am dreading finishing up (we are supposed to this weekend).

Obviously this was taken at the beginning of our trip... we still look enthusiastic! haha :)

I still have no idea where else we should register. I am leaning towards either Macy's or Bed Bath and Beyond... Does anyone have any positive or negative comments toward registering and either of those two places?

Wish us luck this weekend!!! :D

Oh Forever 21, how I love thee...

Forever 21 and I have been in a off and on relationship for the past 8 years. Yes, that is right, EIGHT years.

I have gone through phases from Abercrombie to punk, but when it comes down to it, Forever 21 and I have a bond that cannot be broken.

Where else could you find great deals like this?

Only $32.80!!!

Or what about this?

Only $8.80!!!

Or THIS!

ONLY $4.80!!!

And I LOVE this:

Only $5.80!!!

Man, I love me a good deal. I am definitely considering getting my shower dress and rehearsal dress from Forever 21. The price is DEFINITELY right!

What other inexpensive stores tickle your fancy?

Hair-spiration

I have NO idea how I want to have my hair done for the wedding. Thank goodness I have just a little over 4 months to decide.

But let's be honest, choosing the right hair style is a BIG deal!!!

My hair is getting pretty dang long. It is midway down my back now and it drives me nuts I am learning to love it. My only complaint is that my hair is super thin. I am sure there is a style out there for me somewhere!!!

In the meantime, here is some hair-spiration for you!

How are you going to wear your hair? AND besides extensions, what is the trick for thin hair?

I just realized that I have over 50 followers now!!!

[Source]

I just wanted to say thank you to all of you who read my blog. It was a goal of mine to help just one bride make their wedding day the day that had always hoped for. Now, I feel as though I am surrounded by fabulous brides (and non-brides) who are amazingly wonderful people.

Thank you so much for the amazing comments and praise and love. I look forward to sharing wedding secrets every day because of YOU! :)

Nothing Bundt Cakes?!

Last weekend, we did it. MyMr and I looked at wedding cakes.

Now, let me just preface this with the fact that MyMr and I are not the biggest cake fans. We will eat it, but ehh... it is just okay.

We were going to just do something super simple like this:

I mean, not gonna lie, we all know that white chocolate shavings are delish... BUT...

A couple of weeks ago, someone at myMr's work had a birthday. For the birthday celebration, they purchased a cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes. Let me tell you, myMr has not stopped talking about how amazing this cake was. And yes, he doesn't normally like cake!!!

So, of course, we had to check it out for the wedding.

One word for you: OhMyGodThisCakeIsOrgasmicallyDelish!!!

There are several different flavors of cake, all topped with the most delicious icing I have ever had in my life. Seriously, I could just lick the top off the cake.

There are all different sizes as well. I think we will have a variety of cake flavors and sizes just to spice it up a bit! :)

So, it is official, we are going to have a bundt cake for our wedding cake!!! See, it looks like a flower!!! :D

This cake may not be typical and may be a little quirky, but hey so are we!!! :D

Are you a fan of cake?
