I'm an aunt, again!!

My sister/MOH had her beautiful baby boy this afternoon.

He is PERFECT!!!

She was in labor for nearly 24 hours (CRAZY!). Then, right when she was about to push, every woman's worst nightmare happened... her epidural wore off!!!! She said that she felt about 80% of it. And let me tell you... she has a very LOW tolerance for pain.

But, in the end, it was SO worth it as soon as she got to hold her happy healthy boy. He was 3 weeks early, but still weighed 7 lbs exactly. AND I get to be the godmother to this sweet little boy. :)

I cannot wait to go visit him (my my MOH) tomorrow after work. If I happen to disappear from blogland, this is why; but, I will definitely try my best to update a bunch!

Blair Waldorf, no?

I recently stumbled upon this fabulous Blair Waldorf-esque headband from Forever 21. The outside of the headband is white although it appears black in this picture. Isn't this adorable?!

For only $8.80, it could be the perfect wedding day accessory. I am actually considering it for a wedding shower.

Forever 21 is LOVE. :)

What wedding day accessories will you be sporting?

Guestbook Splurge

So, we definitely splurged on our guest book, but I am so glad we did. I considered just buying a simple book that everyone signed their names in, but I knew that a book like that would just collect dust.

Then, I wanted our engagement pictures to be incorporated into the guest book. I knew that it would be the one of the only ways we would be able to display our engagement pictures. So, I contacted the photographer that did our engagement shoot, Aquario Studio.

Way too much money later, we got THIS!

This is just a small taste of it, but it is <3! I am so glad we splurged. I think our guests will have a fun time looking at all of our pictures.

What has been your wedding splurge?

Fifty Dollar Invites

Sorry for leaving you all hanging this past week. Things have been going GREAT at my new job, but I am having to adjust to working full-time and not have all the time in the world to be a good blogger. :)

Well, I promised to share my invites with you... and I will not keep you in suspense any longer!

I had been eyeing a set of invitations at Michael's for the longest time now, but I was too scared to purchase them because I didn't know what the quality would be like. I took my mom to the store with me and she convinced me to buy them!

I am ridiculously surprised with how nice they are!!!! They are normally 39.99 for a set of 30, but I used a 40% off coupon (even though the following week they had a 50% off coupon... ugh) and I got two boxes of them, 60 invites, for $50!!!

Now for the pictures!!!

This is the outside of the envelope. The colors are brown and ivory-ish. I love the hints of damask on the sides!

The envelopes are sealed with these stickers. They are scalloped on the edges. We are considering embossing them with our new last name initial "B."

The front of the envelope is just plain brown. There are sticker labels that we will stick on the front with the addresses on them. We will be printing on them ourselves.

Then, you open up the envelope..

and TA-DA, the envelope turns into our actual invitation!!!

They are complete with a pocket on the side for our RSVP cards and envelopes.

Then, our Thank You cards match!!! These were purchased separately from everything described above, but with the 40% off coupon, they were only $5.99 for 40 Thank you cards!

I am beyond pleased with our choice. I feel like they are so unique, and we just couldn't beat the price. They are about half the price of what it would cost for us to do our DIY invites!

Have you found your invites yet?

I'm alive...

I swear I am alive! Things are actually phenomenal as of lately!!! What is the reason for all of the good stuff in my life??

I STARTED MY JOB YESTERDAY!!!!!!

Words do not describe how thankful I am for that very fact. It came at JUST the right time. It makes all of the money stress start to fade away. :)

Also, my pregnant sister/MOH just asked me to be the god mother of her soon-to-be baby boy! :) I am so excited! Being the youngest of 5 girls, I feel honored that she asked ME to be the god mother. :) :)

I promise that I will do a post about my invites very very soon! Keep your eyes peeled. All of my invites only cost $50 bucks! AND they definitely don't look like it!

Also, I will be doing a post that will give you a glimpse of our guestbook! Yes, that is right, we FINALLY got our guestbook!!! I am THRILLED with how it turned out.

In the spirit of this post, I want to know, what do you feel blessed about in your life? With all the stress that can come along with planning a wedding, I think it is VERY important to remember how blessed we all our in our own ways. So, please reflect on how you are blessed and share it with us! :) I can't wait to hear what you all have to say!

Cake Topper

Many people find that the search for the perfect cake topper can be quite tiresome. There are so many out there that it is hard to find ones that fit your personalities. Plus, not gonna lie, there are a lot of weird ones out there like this:

or this:

Those, I just don't understand.

MyMr and I decided early on that we like the idea of having a monogram-ish cake topper. I say ish because we didn't want to exactly use our monogram. It would look like this: BBS. I just don't particularly enjoy how our letters look together. So, instead, we found the perfect topper on EBAYYY!! :)

And it even came nicely packaged like this:

We will definitely be putting my initial first because we do NOT want our cake topper to say "BS" haha :)

Simple, cute, and it has some bling on it!

What does your cake topper look like?

Excess invites and stationery?! No Problem!

I was recently asked if I knew any ideas for those who have leftover invitations and stationery. What a great question!

It is very rare to find a bride that purchased just EXACTLY the right number of invitations; thus, I am sure that the vast majority of us will find ourselves asking the very same question.

You are in luck!

A while ago, I stumbled upon two GREAT ways to preserve your wedding memories with your excess paper goods.

The first idea is from c(oi)n:purse. This talented blogger discovered that you can take your excess invites, cut them into strips, roll them, and place them in clear ornaments for your Christmas tree! As an added touch you could use puff paint or permanent markers to write something cute on the outside. Take a look at these beauties:

Could you just imagine reading the words "Our First Christmas" or "We do" followed by the date, or even "Once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairy tale" on the outside of these gorgeous ornaments. :)

This final idea (for now), is one of my personal favorites. Unfortunately I was a bad blogger and I do not have the source for this image (If it is yours, please let me know and I will give credit where credit is due). This is a shadow box with your wedding invitation. I have never seen a shadow box so creatively used. Every single piece that you see is from the bride's invites. Take a look at the creative juices that are flowing:

SO gorgeous! If you are ambitious, you could always give this as a gift to a friend or family member who is getting married. Obviously, you would use their invite of course! ;)

Have you stumbled upon other ideas for excess paper goods?

God is Good...

I have been a little stressed lately when it comes to money, but who isn't these days?!

I was just able to finally file a claim on the fraudulent charges today (I had to wait for them to clear). The lady informed me that I will be reimbursed in 10 business days if the results of the investigation prove the charges to be fraudulent. Yikes. That means that my account is sitting in the negatives for another 2 weeks or so. I have 2 credit card payments coming up in about 3 weeks, so if there is any delay in this, I am screwed.

Also, I have not been able to start work as early as I had hoped. There was confusion on my start date, and they told me that I wouldn't be able to start until September. Yikes. I saved enough money to last me through last quarter so that I didn't have to work, and my tax refund is helping right now... but it would never last me 6 months.

Luckily, I was finally able to convince them to move my start date up a little bit. I got it to the beginning on July. It is still a ways away, but it is much better than September.

I really just starting praying that God would take care of me and that I would make it through this financial hardship without having to turn to my parents or to myMr. I have just put my faith in Him, and about 5 minutes ago, it paid off!!!

I just got a phone call from a man at my company (a scary man at that). He said that there is the opportunity to move my start date up a little bit, if I was interested. Me, interested?! HELL YES!!! I nearly screamed on the phone, I was so excited. He told me that someone will be calling me on Thursday or Friday, and they will be setting up a meeting to be discussing the work that I would be doing. If I am interested, then they will set up a start date.

Get this, the start date would be in about a week or so depending on when we set up our meeting!!!! I could not believe it! God has definitely answered my prayers.

Wedding plans will be moving forward, and I won't have to ask anyone for any money!!! I feel so blessed right now. Amazing.

Have you felt that God is taking care of you lately?

Be Very Careful...

I just wanted to take the time to advise you all on being very careful where and when you use your debit card. With weddings being planned, so many of you (including myself) buy many many things online and at stores. The increase in spending increases the risk of falling victim to an attack.

I, like many people out there, have unfortunately fallen victim to debit card fraud. I just happened to look at my online statement before I went shopping the other day, and BAM! My checking AND savings account was COMPLETELY wiped out. I could not believe it. I was shocked and horrified and felt incredibly violated all at the same time.

I just wanted to share some tips with you all for keeping yourself safe. These are not professional tips, they are just things that I have learned from this mess.

1. Be VERY careful when purchasing online. I have no idea if this is how my information was stolen, but it is so easy for this to happen. It is sickening.

2. DO NOT under ANY circumstances link your checking and your savings accounts. I had mine linked in case I ever overdrew. Then it would just take some money out of my savings and save me from having to pay overdraft fees. Seems pretty smart, right? WRONG. Since my accounts were linked, they got EVERYTHING. It is ALL gone. NEVER EVER link your accounts.

3. Never ever write your pin number down and put it in a "safe" place. I did not do this, but I know many people who do. It is just asking for someone to steal your information.

4. USE YOUR CREDIT CARD, NOT YOUR DEBIT CARD FOR EVERYTHING!!!! If I would have done this, then it would have been my credit card information stolen instead of my debit card info. Yes, that still would have sucked, but I would still have money right now. Credit cards are much easier to remove fraudulent charges. With credit cards, there is no money lost yet. Just charges that can be removed. Since it is my debit card info that is stolen, my money is gone and I have to work at getting it back.

5. When all else fails, stick to cash. I think I am going to start carrying cash with me for everyday purchases. You can't steal info from a dollar bill. :)

6. Check your online account, and check it often. The bastard was stealing my money for THREE days before I even knew about it because I didn't check my account for a few days.

7. Cover up the pin pad when entering your pin number anywhere. You may feel paranoid doing this, but it is much better than someone stealing your info!!!

Just please, please be safe. Check your online account often and if you see ANY suspicious activity immediately call your bank.

I have to admit...

I have fallen in love with Twilight. Ugh.

I swore I wouldn't see the movie. I thought the whole obsession was stupid. I had no desire to see a vampire movie. Then, my friend forced me to see the movie I saw the movie, and now I am reading the book.

It is ridiculously good. Edward is pure sex. Rawr.

Have any of you found yourselves succumbing to the same addiction?

For those who are anal...

...or just REALLY like being organized...

I recently discovered the CUTEST RSVP card organizer. It is by Mindy Weiss (purchased from the JeanM website). She has some fabulous items, but I just couldn't pass up this organizer. I know it is random, but just look at how cute it is:

Is this a necessity? No. Is it adorable? Yes. Do I get exciting just thinking about filling it up with our RSVPs? HELL YES!!!

*Note* If you want to purchase this, the absolute cheapest place to buy it is on the JeanM website. There are plenty of other sites that sell them, but they nearly double the price. I got mine for $13.00. :) I just saw that they raised their prices to $26.00. Dang.

A Toast to You!!!

It took myMr and I quite a while to find toasting flutes that suited us. We like things simple: clean lines, no frills, just simple. It seemed like MOST of the glasses that I found were the exact opposite of simple.

Then, we found ours. :) It was love at first sight.

Aren't they pretty? We purchased them from PersonalizationMall.com. If you haven't visited that site, you much do it now. I have gotten gorgeous Christmas ornaments, plaques, doormats, etc. from that site and ALL of it is quality made. :) They do such a great job at a reasonable price! You can't beat that! :)

Where did you find your toasting flutes?

P.S. Does anyone know how to flip those pictures once I upload them? Or do I have to do it ahead of time?

Napkins

My mom is an amazingly crafty woman. So, since she loves being so crafty, she has decided to take on the task of making napkins for our wedding. Why napkins, you ask?

She has an embroidery machine, so she is going to personalize them! So far all we have found is the fabric, but I thought I would share it with you.

I found the fabric on clearance at a fabric store next to the David's Bridal by my house. I was at David's so I thought I would just browse the fabric store after. It ended up having some really high end fabrics!

The fabric I chose was on clearance for $4.99 a yard, marked down from $9.99. What a steal! Well, here it is. Very shortly, this fabric will be transformed into our napkins!

What do you think?

Are you going to be DIY-ing any odd things?
