Without further ado....
Sorry it has been so long. First there was Christmas and then I got sick. I am feeling much better today, so... as promised... here are my invites!!!
I swore that I wasn't going to DIY my invites. I thought it would just be too much to handle, but I was actually able to accomplish this quite easily. AND I LOVE THEM!
First, I went to Michael's and found fabulous gold crinkled scrapbooking paper. I cut the paper down to a size that would appropriately fit into a standard envelope.
MyMr mentioned a long time ago that he loves vellum for invites. So, I incorporated it into our invites. Just like the gold paper, I found the vellum in the scrapbooking aisle at Michael's. I cut it down so that it is smaller than the gold paper. Then, I printed on the vellum with my inkjet printer (we will have the others professionally printed by a family friend).
After fixing the vellum to the gold paper via hot glue gun, I attached beautiful ribbon (also found at Michael's 60% off plus additional 10% off). One end was hot glue gunned at the left side of the vellum, wrapped around the back of the invite, and the other end was hot glue gunned at the right side of the vellum. I like to think of it as a belt for the invites.
Then, I attached HotFix Swarovski crystals next to each end of the ribbon. These crystals adhere with heat. I did five on each side.
Then, voila!
Here are our RSVP cards. I did them similarly to the invites, but without vellum. I used opalescent white paper. Also, I didn't use the same "belt" concept with the ribbon. Instead, I attached the ribbon along the left edge.
Here they are together. Our cute little invites that I actually did myself. If I can do them, ANYONE can do them!!!
Take care until next time,
hisMrs
