The Hunt for the hisMrs/myMr Honeymoon

This post is going to be a little different than my other ones. Normally, I like to show off neat ideas that I have found to offer tips to those of your planning a wedding, just like myself. But today, I seek the advice of my fellow readers.

Like many, many people out there, the uncertain economy has definitely taken a toll on my wedding budget. We have decided to cut back A LOT so that we can save up money for a home/possible layoffs/uncertainties of the future. We have been doing a great job saving; however, there was an unexpected turn this weekend.

I am not going to go into detail to respect those who were involved (my parents). Let's just say that I am now, unexpectedly $18,000 in debt because of student loans. I didn't anticipate having to pay these, but that is another story. The bottom line is that I have this hanging over my head now.

So, what can you all help with, you ask? Well, aside from the wedding budget and my newly discovered debt, myMr and I still want to have a memorable honeymoon. We are cutting back like crazyyyy, but we have definitely decided to stay in the U.S. So, I ask you, what places would you suggest for a honeymoon that is budget friendly. We would be flying out of San Diego.

So far, we are considering:
Las Vegas (not quite the romantic atmosphere, but hey it would be fun!)

San Francisco (we were supposed to go a longgg time ago, but unfortunately had to cancel our trip)

Hawaii (We have both been, but not together. Very romantic)

Any other ideas? Oh yeah, our wedding is in October, so a place with nice weather would be nice... and hopefully no bugs! :)

Thank you all for your advice. I really appreciate it!

Take care until next time,
hisMrs

If it were me, I'd head to Hawaii. But since you've already both been, my second choice is San Fransisco--I bet there's TONS of things to do there!

Or, you could stay even closer to home (palm springs, la, catalina?) for a long weekend and plan a bigger better trip for another time.

Sorry for unexpected debt! I know what's it's like(I've got more than that in student loans...and now fi is in grad school! so more loans)

We just decided to go for it because we're planning to live extremely frugally for the next few years

Catalina is a GREAT idea! I didn't even think about that! Wow, thank you so much. Neither myMr nor I have been. I just gave him the task to look into it :) So far, my top favs are Catalina and Hawaii! :D

Man, student loans are no fun. I am sorry you have so many too. Having a solid education is worth all the money in the end, but in the mean time, it is no bueno.

That stinks!!!
Would you ever consider waiting a while before you went on your honey moon to help with the debt? (I know, God forbid, right? lol).

We are waiting, because of his training schedule-- he can't get enough time off for the honeymoon!!

Hey-- this has nothing to do with this post, but would you check it out?
